Now comes the fun part...the projects themselves! Three students from Colonial Beach High School participated in the Kid's Talk schloarship program. With the help of the Colonial Beach Moose Lodge and our sponser Miss Mary Pietras, we made our projects the best they could be.
Lauren Harrison chose "Danger Awareness" as her Kid's Talk topic. Her project will explain different dangers that kids could encounter anywhere and what to do if this should happen. By using different games and a homemade video, she explained the dangers of matches, guns, fires, and other obsticals.
Cassie Cecil's topic was "At Home Saftey". Her goal is to explain to the children what to do and what NOT to do if they are home alone For her project, she used different games and a skit where the kids would "freeze" the actors if they were about to do something dangerous.
And finally there's me, Hallie Gray. I chose outdoor saftey for my topic. I explained to kids what to look for and what to watch out for when playing alone, or with friends outside. By taking the kids outside to a playground and helping them spot the dangers, and by creating this site, I taught the children about the hazards of strangers, playgrounds, and other things arround town.
